Following the successful response to our recent hands-on workshop, we are thrilled to announce that Pottery has now been integrated into our regular school curriculum! Students will transition from initial exploration to mastering the art of clay, moving through structured levels of hand-building and wheel-throwing techniques every week.

Aims

  • To provide a therapeutic and tactile outlet for self-expression, helping students balance academic pressure with creative mindfulness.

  • To foster an appreciation for ancient Indian craft traditions and the patience required for slow, artisanal work.

Objectives

  • Material Mastery: Students will learn to “wedge” clay to remove air bubbles and understand the science of moisture content and firing temperatures.

  • Technique Development: To gain proficiency in primary hand-building methods—Pinch pots, Coil building, and Slab construction—before graduating to the Potter’s Wheel.

  • Problem Solving: Students will learn to troubleshoot structural issues, such as preventing cracks and ensuring balance in 3D forms.

  • Aesthetic Finish: To explore surface decoration, including textures, stamping, and the chemical process of glazing.
